August Photo Roundup

See all my other pics on Instagram: @craftylilkels

The month of August has yielded a handful of changes for me. Most notably: I dyed my hair red and I got new glasses!

A year ago my life changed completely, I can't believe it took me that long to make these much needed updates to my image. I've been wanting to be a redhead for a while now, and I've finally done it! It's been a lot of fun.

Already I am sooo looking forward to fall weather and pumpkin spice everything. I have a recipe I'll share with you too for Pumpkin Oatmeal cookies, so keep an eye out! I'm also really excited to see all the Halloween decorations!

What are you most excited for in the months to come?

July Photo Roundup and life update

Here it is, my life (basically) for the past month:
Instagram: craftylilkels

I honestly almost didn't post this today, but I figured it would be as good as any a time to write up what's been going on in my life. It hasn't been a lot until recently. About a week ago we found out that the owner of the house we rent is planning on selling. Now we have two months to pack all of our things, find a new house, and move to it. It has been a lot of stress on all of us, and we are very unhappy with the situation. People want to start seeing the house on Saturday, so you can imagine how unhappy I am about it all. On the bright side of things, we deserve to live in a much better house and not have to share a bathroom between three people.

Other than these very unfortunate circumstances, July had been a pretty good month. I met new crafters at Urban Craft Uprising, had some fun in Seattle, made some Snitch necklaces (and sold one!), became mother of dragons, was in a video for Female Geek Bloggers talking about Fantasy in all media (well, my voice was anyway), and a handful of other stuff.

So what was your July like?

And to my Supernatural friends, CROATOAN

That is all :)

June: The Month of Food Photography

I take a lot of pictures that often don't get posted here, and are instead posted on Instagram, which is usually what I post at the end of the month. This month however, I'm going to share with you some of the photos I've been taking of food I've eaten this past month and have neglected to share anywhere. This is a very exclusive set, not seen anywhere else!

Until after the cake was gone after my mom's birthday a little over a week ago it seemed like we weren't in short supply of treats around here. (Which is probably why I'm abstaining from now.) My dad surprised us with these gorgeous chocolate cups filled with mousse near the beginning of the month and I just had to photograph them. Then there was national doughnut day after that. I'd like to say I've been evening out all the sweets I've been eating with fruits, but that would just be a lie. (However I have been photographing them as well!)

Most of these photos can now be found in my Flickr Album: Food Photography

As soon as I got my first camera with "macro" capabilities, I have been obsessed with capturing the up close and small world and capturing the little details. I was so happy to find out that my phone camera on the Galaxy SIII also was able to do macro too because of that. All of these were taken and edited on my phone! Some day I'd like to do a post about my favorite free editors that I use. These days I use Photoshop only when I need a heavy duty job done. Most of the time I just add a filter and whatever else needs tweaking on my phone. Simple as that!

I've been meaning to share more of my pictures but sometimes I feel more like keeping them to myself. Partly because once when I first started my instagram someone took my button picture and didn't give me credit. I'm sure there's no stopping anyone from taking any picture they want even if I think it's not the greatest picture ever, but the thought still worries me.

Along with all these food photographs I've been taking, I have a whole bunch more of flowers in macro that I haven't shared either.

If you're a photographer, what is your favorite thing to photograph?
Do you have a favorite editing program?

It's gonna be May! [Photo Roundup]

It's gonna be May!

I'm sure you guys have seen this meme all over the place. Personally I love it! But that's also because I am was a huge fan of Nsync. "It's gonna be me" also popped up on my random music selection the other day too, so I got a chuckle out of that.

Now to finish off the month of April, here's my photo roundup:

This month I decided to put the three favorite groups of photos into it. Delicious noms, blue daisies/photo editing, and my hand-knit bows that are now up in my Etsy! Almost all photos can be found on my Instagram. So goodbye April! You were a good month, and we will miss you but you had plenty of fond memories hat will stay with us forever.

Talk nerdy to me! (Introducing the month-end photo roundup)

Something I want to do at the end of every month is a roundup of my favorite pictures of the month or of a genre. It might turn into a link-up if I get enough people interested. This month I decided that I wanted to share my favorite geeky pictures I've taken in the past year or so.

This is the awesomeness you've been missing out on:

1, 2, 3, 4, -, 6, 7, 8, -

Most of them are on Instagram. The two that aren't are the Hobbit poster (from seeing the Hobbit with my parents), and the Pokeball picture. That one I took when I was visiting my parents before I moved in with them. The Pokeball is from Burger King and has one of those 25ct gold cards inside of it. My personal favorite is the "Hello Sweetie" + TARDIS pic.

I have several photo editors on my phone including Pixlr Express, Aviary, and Picsart. They're all free and a bunch of fun to play with!

So tell me, would you be interested in joining in and doing a photo roundup with me? Or do you have any similar link-ups you would suggest I participate in? I'd love to know!
