Let's catch up, shall we?
I moved into a new house (still with parents)
Didn't have internet for about a month...
Other things happened....
Blah, blah, blah....
And here's the costume I made in about a day after a thrifting trip for a last minute party invite!
I call her Betty Blackheart: The wench with the blackest heart on the seven seas!
Most of my pieces were found at Goodwill or Value Village and it all came to about $50. That may seem like a lot, but many of these pieces I can use for other costumes!
A quick run-down of the bits and pieces:
White button-up- Thrifted from Value Village
Corset top- Thrifted from VV and embellished with ribbon
Leather skirt- Thrifted from Goodwill
Tricorn hat- Thrifted from Goodwill
Sword, holster, and gun (not pictured)- Thrifted from VV
Frilly underskirt- Thrifted from Goodwill last year
Hair Dye- Roux color refresh mask (Though you can barely tell in these pictures, I dyed my hair bright red!)
Red head scarf and boot sash- cut from a dress I wore in high school! (Hoarder status much?)
Boots, earrings, and necklace- already had in my closet
Tattoo tights- Thrifted from Goodwill. Brand: Leg Avenue
And here's a closer view, because they're awesome!

So perfect for my costume!
It was a lot of fun to put this together, even on such short notice. I ended up having a lot of fun going to out the costume party with friends. I feel like being in costume opens up a lot more doors with strangers than simply going out on a regular night. Everyone was friendly and supportive of each other. There are so many things about Halloween that make it my favorite time of the year, and that's definitely near the top for me!
So what did you do for Halloween? Did you dress up? Let me know in the comments! Even better, leave a link to your blog if you posted your costume so I can see it!
I really need to catch up with you all!
Awesome costume! Love those tights!
ReplyDeleteAwesome costume! And welcome back!! No internet for a month? Sounds scary!

Such a fun costume! (I lived without internet for about a month when I moved. It almost killed me.)

Welcome back! Your costume turned out so awesome, I wouldn't have even thought that it was put together at the last minute :D It's cool how costume parties allow people to converse a little more easily -- or at least that's how I feel since I'm an introvert. It rained where I live so I wasn't able to wear my Mabel costume all day :( I just went to a little party at work in the afternoon and worked on a writing project with a friend in the evening.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mariko! They were a perfect find! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was! haha, and thank you! I didn't have good cell phone reception either so I was more or less forced to put my room in order. The craft room on the other hand.... lol
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather! Living without internet is sooo hard! I also didn't have good cell phone service so I was going a little crazy, lol.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nina!!! I'm glad you think so. I had a very awesome helper at Value Village who set me up with most of my accessories. It rained awful where the party was too, and I wasn't wearing the white shirt that night, so I'm paying the price for it now by being sick! Should have tried harder to find an umbrella I guess. That sucks that you weren't able to wear your costume all day! It was so cute! Darn the rain! I'm an introvert too, so I agree that being able to reach out like that is a lot better than it usually is. :)
ReplyDeleteYour costume is so perfect! I love it <3
ReplyDeleteI dressed up as a leopard this year haha, I'll leave my link, if you could check out my halloween post!:)
You have a new follower, I love your blog:)
